Forward: II. Snow Score and Parts (PDF) - Grade 6
PDFs of the score and parts to "Forward: II. Snow," composed in 2017 and recorded on the 2019 Paul Dietrich Jazz Ensemble album Forward. This is a standalone movement of a four part suite, written in 2017 with support from the Greater Madison Jazz Consortium's Artistic Development Grant.
"Snow" contains an extended feature for alto saxophone, written originally for Greg Ward. The piece was written with the intention of capturing the quiet feeling that happens just after a freshly fallen snowfall, and features deceptively difficult parts that have players testing how softly they can play.
